Wait No More! Australian Singer/Songwriter Daniela Corso Releases New Single with First Album to Follow…

1103coverart(Melbourne, Australia) – Singer/songwriter Daniela Corso bursted on to the Australian music scene in 2010 with the release of her EP From You. Corso toured Australia in support of her EP and gained quite a following.  It’s been five years since that release and this summer fans will finally get a full album! In the meantime, Corso’s first single from the album, 11:03 (Heaven) – a song with a dance beat to it – was released on March 23 with great response.

So, what has Corso been up to in between? Some highlights include opening for Michael Paynter, fresh off the Miley Cyrus tour in August 2011.  Paynter was a top 16 finalist on The Voice Australia and had the hit single Love the Fall featuring The Veronicas.

In 2013,  Corso released the power ballad You’re Here, which was nominated for “Best Video” at the AIMA’S (Australian Independent Musicians Association).

In 2014, Corso began writing her debut album, yet to be named, and is working with sound engineer Doug Brady (John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Lionel Richie, The Voice Australia) and producer Michael Zammitt – one of Melbourne’s leading award winning producers with over 30 years experience.

Music Life Magazine caught up with Corso this week to learn more about this emerging artist from the land down under and find out what we have been missing outside Australia.

JOEL – Thank you for taking the time for this interview. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I would like to start out by getting to know you a bit more. You’re from Australia, born and raised?

DANIELA – I was indeed born and raised in the western suburbs of Melbourne Australia.

JOEL – How old are you and when did you get into music?

DANIELA – I am in my thirties and feel as though I am in my twenties! I am very young at heart.  I have been singing since I was a kid but got into my first cover band around seven years ago. I fell in love with performing immediately and started writing songs. I then put my original band together and realized there was nothing better than performing your own music to people.

JOEL – Do you come from a musical background? Is anyone else in your family into music in any capacity?

DANIELA – Growing up my uncles were quite musical. I come from an Italian backround so it was a very loud family! The piano, accordian and guitar came out a few times.

JOEL – How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?

DANIELA – I would say it’s versatile. Something for everybody. Powerful, meaningful and honest.

JOEL – Who are some of your influences? Who do you listen to and look up to?

DANIELA – I love Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys. I think Emili Sande is absolutely amazing. I look up to her for her writing ability and how she delivers her messages through her vocals so amazingly. I adore Australian legend John Farnham. His vocals absolutely blow me away!

JOEL – Your first release was an EP in 2010 called From You. You toured Australia in support of that release. How was that for you personally? What did you learn from it? Did you gain a big fan base?

DANIELA – Playing the shows for the From You EP was a blast! Such an amazing energy was on stage and we did gain quite a fan base. I have a following of over 18,000 on Facebook Fan Page and growing. The support was enormous. Personally, I think I grew a lot as a performer and learnt to really be myself on stage and just give it everything I’ve got. People really connect with you when you bare your soul on stage.

JOEL – You worked with bass player Paul Woseen (from The Screaming Jets) for your earlier work. Are you still working with him?

DANIELA – Paul is amazing, an amazing player, singer and writer. His vibe is electric and contagious! Playing with him and seeing his devotion to what he does inspired me even more to be the best that I can be. I haven’t played with Paul for a while as I had taken a big break. Guess this new album is like a comeback for me with a new direction. I will definitely play with Paul again in the future.

JOEL – Your debut album is due this year. What is it called and when can we expect it out?coverUntitled-3

DANIELA – The album has not been named as yet. As soon as I record the final track I will name it. Kind of like the icing on the cake. It’s expected to be out in July. It’s very exciting and I cannot wait to show the diversity and different flavours that have gone into it!

JOEL – You just released the first single off your debut album called 11:03 (Heaven) on March 23, 2015. What can you tell me about that song?

DANIELA – The song has a dance feel to it and is very uplifting. I actually wrote it because of a dream I had. I dreamt that an angel showed me a sign with 11:03 on it. I woke up with a need to do something with that. So I did! I wrote the song and the lyrics just flowed. I know I did what I was supposed to do. I love the song and so far I am getting a great response. I couldn’t be happier!

JOEL – Do you write a lot of your own songs?

DANIELA – I do write (a lot of) my own songs. I don’t play an instrument, unfortunately. I usually record melodies and work with producers and musicians to get the music down. It works really well.

JOEL – Did you collaborate with anyone? Who did you work with for the new album?

DANIELA – I am half way through the album and I will be collaborating with a few people still. Can’t say too much yet but will release some news soon. I have worked with producer Michael Zammitt on a few tracks and Doug Brady for some of the tracks.

JOEL – You worked with sound engineer Doug Brady for your new album. How did you hook up with him?

DANIELA – I can’t say enough good things about Doug. He is a dream to work with and has such passion , enthusiasm and vision for everything that he does. He came across me through some mutual contacts and shot me through a message. We have been great friends ever since and I am thrilled to have him engineering this album.

JOEL – What are you plans for the new album as far as touring?

DANIELA – I would love to tour Australia and beyond if all goes well for the album. The possibilities are endless and I am shooting for the stars! I will be putting a new crew together to tour with and I think it’s going to be crazy awesome!

JOEL – Any plans to tour outside of Australia or to release the album outside of Australia?

DANIELA – Will definitely be releasing the album overseas and will be releasing a remix of 11:03 (Heaven) shortly. Touring outside of Australia would be fantastic! I would definitely be up for it.

JOEL – If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?

DANIELA – I would love to tour with Katy Perry!

JOEL – Is there anything else you would like to add or plug?

DANIELA – I will plug where you can find more out about me and my music. (Check out) my website and Facebook. Follow me on Twitter and of course you can find me on iTunes, Google Play and all good digital stores! You can also get the ringtone to my new single 11:03 (Heaven) on iTunes!

JOEL – Thank you for your time! Looking forward to hearing more from you and spreading your name and music worldwide! Best of luck to you Daniela!
