Last Wednesday TransCanada Highwaymen began their Ontario tour at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. It was one of the most enjoyable, fun nights I had this concert season at the PAC. On stage were four friends, four iconic Canadian singers who all have made an impact in Canadian music.

Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness), Chris Murphy (Sloan), Craig Northey (Odds) and Steven Page (ex-Barenaked Ladies) told stories, played music and shared video footage throughout the night. Each member talked about their respective bands and what it was like at certain stages of their careers.

Musically, the night was comprised of two sets – both packed with familiar tunes most in attendance grew up listening to dating as far back as 20 years or so. Such songs included Someone Who’s Cool (Odds), It’s All Been Done (Barenaked Ladies), Hard To Laugh (TPOH), The Other Man (Sloan), Brian Wilson (Barenaked Ladies), Coax Me (Sloan), Two Girls In One (TPOH), Satisfied (Odds), I’m An Adult Now (TPOH) and many more!

Murphy, Page and Northey all took turns playing drums. The chemistry of all four on stage was impeccable. the bantering was unstoppable! Whether they were playing a song or telling a story, there was never a dull moment and the audience was kept captivated.

If you haven’t seen the TransCanada Highwaymen yet, I would highly recommend it! The tour comes to an end on April 28th in Brampton. To find out more on the tour and the TransCanada Highwaymen check out their Facebook page.

  1. Amazing show we saw them in Kingston I loved the surprise of what they brought to each song and the flashes to their past gave me a smile a tear a laugh and sometimes just a puzzled look and then a giggle…amazing guys who’s performance exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to see what the future holds…individually they are each fantastic…together they are the best:)

  2. Thanks for your comment Roberta! They do put on a great show! I hope this will continue on with new music or more shows after this tour. They should take it across Canada!
