Press release –
Under the shadow of a lunar eclipse, in a remote Vermont farmhouse overlooking Lake Champlain, The Nth Power tapped into what they call “The Great Spirit” – a creative force that fuels their fourth studio album Never Alone, arriving May 1st. Today, the trio unveil the record’s first single, ‘Dream Alive,’ alongside its accompanying music video, offering a first glimpse into a project rooted in unity, groove, and the belief that no one truly walks alone.
When preparing to bring Never Alone to life, drummer Nikki Glaspie, guitarist Nick Cassarino and bassist Nate Edgar converged on a farmhouse studio in Colchester, Vermont at the invitation of Phish bassist Mike Gordon. Over two weeklong sessions overlooking a quiet bay, they allowed instinct, chemistry and environment to guide the process.
“Vermont has an energy, there’s something special in the air,” Cassarino explains. “We were there recording late into the early morning hours one night during a lunar eclipse, and it was like the whole atmosphere changed. The creative force and beauty of where we were was just ridiculous.” The band collectively tracked eight songs that became Never Alone.
The album also features a handful of special guests, including jazz trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Skerik, former bandmate Courtney Smith, and New Orleans brass collective The Soul Rebels, expanding the trio’s palette while reinforcing the communal spirit at the heart of the project.
The lead single “Dream Alive” is a groove-driven anthem that unfolds like a mantra for perseverance and shaping the future you want to see. The arrangement spotlights the trio’s dynamic interplay, with each player carving out space while pushing the song forward with confidence and clarity. As Edgar explains, “Dream Alive captures our raw and unapologetic musical approach with its driving rhythms and lyrical message. Everybody’s musical contributions really shine through on this song.”

For Cassarino, the song reflects the band’s core bond. “Dream alive is a song about rolling with your crew – the chosen family we get to live life with. It’s a song about living the dream and being alive.” The main chord progression, he notes, came from “a progression I came up with as an alternate bridge part for the Jackson 5 song ‘I Want You Back’ during my tenure in the Village Underground house band in New York.”
Filmed during the group’s 2025 fall tour, the video captures a spirited performance at San Francisco’s historic Glide Memorial Church, where the band led a Sunday morning musical worship of love between tour dates.
Throughout their individual careers, The Nth Power have performed with some of music’s most recognizable names. Glaspie was hand-picked by Beyoncé to join her all-female touring ensemble the Suga Mamas before expanding her work with Maceo Parker, Dumpstaphunk and Snarky Puppy. Edgar, a longtime member of John Brown’s Body, has collaborated with Sister Nancy, G. Love & Special Sauce and Rubblebucket. Cassarino has worked with Christian McBride, Big Daddy Kane and Babyface.
Yet they always return to the higher vibrations discovered together as The Nth Power.
Since first coalescing during a late night New Orleans Jazz Fest showcase in 2011, love and spiritual connection have remained at the core of The Nth Power’s music. Over the past decade, the trio’s catalog – from their debut EP Basic Minimum Skills Test through full-length releases including Abundance and Reverence – has reflected deep musical roots and a fluid approach to genre. Huffington Post noted that “The Nth Power achieve what few bands in their genre are capable of: that is, melding instrumental prowess to song-craft.” That musicality translates powerfully to the stage, where The Nth Power have built a reputation for a live connection that extends beyond technique or spectacle. As Okayplayer describes it, their shows are a “stunning live performance that rivals some of the tightest ensembles in the game.”
With Never Alone, they channel that synergy – and the momentum of years spent earning their reputation onstage – into a record that sharpens their focus while staying true to the communal spirit that has defined them from the start.
“We created this album with the intention of sharing love back into the world, with the understanding that all people deserve love. You don’t have to know someone to love them,” Glaspie shares. “It’s about inspiring others to have more compassion for your fellow man, and mankind as a whole. We’re only here for a speck of time, so be nice. Time is precious.”
“‘Never Alone’ really represents who we are as a band that can’t be defined by one musical genre,” Edgar adds. Glaspie adds, “We believe in the power of love, and emit that belief through our music. This album is a culmination of our calling as musicians and human beings on this planet. We want to take the message as far as it can go.”
The Nth Power will support the release of Never Alone with an extensive run of tour dates throughout 2026, including select shows supporting Snarky Puppy, headline club dates, and festival appearances. Additional headline dates and festival appearances will follow throughout the spring, summer, and fall, with stops from coast-to-coast.
