Press release –
LA-based, Grammy-winning artist and legendary voice actor Grey DeLisle returns with “The Pieces,” a slow-burning, soulful meditation on long-distance love that lingers long after the final note. Written from the perspective of a relationship stretched just a little too thin, the track sits in that quiet tension between holding on and letting go, carried by a restrained, deeply felt vocal that lets every word land.
“The Pieces” offers a first look at her forthcoming collaborative album Grey & Greene, out June 5 via Hummin’bird Records. Recorded alongside fellow LA-based soul showman Les Greene, the record arrives as a warm and vibrant slice of real, flesh-and-blood rock n’ soul at a time when much of today’s music landscape feels increasingly digital and detached. Listening to it, you can practically picture the vintage equipment used to capture its sound, even the cover art feels delightfully out of time, as if it could have just as easily emerged in 1956 as 2026.
Hailing from Baltimore and shaped by a deep reverence for classic soul traditions, Greene has built a reputation for channeling the genre’s emotional core while pushing it forward, blending elements of R&B, funk, and jazz into a sound that feels both timeless and modern. The voice of Little Richard in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 Elvis movie and its Grammy-nominated soundtrack, a 2024 Ameripolitan award winner, and most recently, a highlighted entrant in the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest, Greene is known for his electrifying stage presence and dynamic vocal delivery, he brings a rich, expressive voice to the collaboration, one capable of moving seamlessly between raw power and intimate vulnerability.
DeLisle, for her part, is nothing if not prolific, turning out songs the way Stephen King turns out novels, the way Krispy Kreme delivers donuts: sweet, satisfying, and seemingly endless. After years focused on her Emmy Award-winning career as one of the most recognizable voices in American animation, her songwriting fire reignited in 2020, setting off a creative run that has since produced an expansive and genre-spanning catalog rooted in storytelling, collaboration, and a deep reverence for Americana tradition.

Produced by rockabilly veteran James Intveld and written by DeLisle (with three co-writes by Intveld), Grey & Greene showcases the dynamic vocal interplay between DeLisle and Greene, who first connected in 2024 while recording the holiday track “I Don’t Want Nothing.” That initial collaboration sparked a creative partnership that carries through the album, with each artist contributing five solo performances alongside a duet cover of Grease classic “You’re the One That I Want.”
Across the record, the two trade off vocal duties on tracks like “Shake That Thing,” “Go Go Go,” and “Home Wrecker,” the latter a clever reimagining of DeLisle’s 2006 original, with Greene stepping into the title role as a “devil in some tight leather.” The album moves seamlessly between high-energy, dancefloor-ready cuts and tender ballads like “I’m Gonna Let You Call Me Baby,” “Mariposa,” and “That’s All,” allowing both voices to shine in full.
The result is a genre-spanning collection that blends classic country, rockabilly, soul, and Brill Building pop into something timeless yet immediate, equally at home on a festival stage, a jukebox in your favorite bar, or in the quiet, reflective moments the songs themselves often inhabit. With “The Pieces,” DeLisle sets the tone for a record that feels both deeply personal and joyfully transportive, a reminder of the enduring power of real voices, real instruments, and songs that speak straight to the heart.
