Kaeley Jade Inspired by The Princess Bride on “Wisest Fool” Video

Video still from ‘The Wisest Fool.”

Press release –

Alt-folk artist Kaeley Jade unveils the glorious new video for her latest single, “Wisest Fool,” and it is a must-watch! Drawing inspiration from The Princess Bride (one of Jade’s favourite movies of all time) and classic storybook fairytales, the “Wisest Fool” video builds a vibrant fantasy world that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly playful. Directed by Emily Ann Corcoran, the video is charming and delightfully camp, showcasing Jade’s magnetic on-screen presence and sharp comedic instincts.

A perfect visual companion to the buoyant, tongue-in-cheek single featured on her forthcoming album The Great Unknown (out April 10), the video arrives amid growing buzz for Jade, with support already pouring in from CBCSiriusXMOnesToWatchStingrayCKUAJulian Taylor’s JukeboxExclaim!, and more.

Director Emily Anne Corcoran describes Jade as a “fearless artist,” noting that from the outset, the goal was to match the song’s wit and warmth with something bold and imaginative. Leaning into camp and fantasy, the team embraced an ambitious creative vision, brought to life through a collaborative spirit and a willingness to play. “The creativity of the artists involved, and everyone’s openness to getting a little silly, made it possible to pull this off, even with tight resources,” Corcoran shares.

For Jade, working with Corcoran was a natural fit. “Aside from being one of my dearest friends and collaborators, Emily Anne Corcoran’s work is always threaded with fun and whimsy, so I knew we were going to be in safe hands with her at the helm on this wildly ambitious adventure,” she shares. The production centred on sustainability and hands-on craftmanship, with scavenged, recycled, and repurposed materials used to fabricate props and set pieces, an intensive process that pushed Jade creatively as a visual artist. “The Fool’s lute now proudly hangs on my wall as a testament to the art of paper mâché,” she adds.

The video also features illustrations by Jade’s bandmate Katie Wood of Edmonton’s Fun Gal Studio, alongside striking costumes designed by Cherie Howard. Jade singles out Holly Wandler, who plays her on-screen double, as an unsung hero for enduring a heavy suit of armour while choreographing an epic fight sequence. Shot over two days in FAVA’s green screen studio, the video was captured under the cinematographic eye of Dale Bailey, with support from a dedicated production team.

“It was our goal to build a world that infused the spirit of one of my all-time favourite movies with a storybook fairytale feeling,” says Jade, who describes herself as “tickled pink” with how the final video turned out. The result is a joyful, imaginative visual that reflects the heart of the song and the adventurous, creative spirit behind it.

Produced by JUNO Award-winner Hill Kourkoutis, Jade’s upcoming album The Great Unknown is a cinematic plunge into the dread, conflict, and uncertainty that arise when we reach a turning point. There is catharsis in letting go of that which no longer serves us, and The Great Unknown invites listeners to embrace life’s unpredictability, confront the moments that challenge us, and celebrate the beauty found within its ever-shifting tides.

The album also includes her #1 Indigenous Music Countdown song, ‘The Ceiling.’ Where “The Ceiling” was born out of conversations about global unrest and feelings of powerlessness, “Wisest Fool” is a song about undying, unfiltered, unstoppable love.

Jade wrapped up 2025 with a 30+ date run of summer and fall tour dates across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. She participated in the SOCAN Song House at BreakOut West in Winnipeg and was selected for the TD Incubator for Creative Entrepreneurship and the national Women in Music Canada Entrepreneur Accelerator program.

What’s The Story About Kaeley Jade?
(pronounced KAY-lee Jayde)

Alternative-folk singer/songwriter Kaeley Jade crafts full-hearted songs that dig deep. Growing up on the outskirts of North America’s most northern metropolis, the Edmonton-based Métis artist has been sculpted by icy winter winds, warm summer breezes, and sweeping prairie skies. Whether through gently textured acoustic ballads or rip-roaring full-band cuts, Jade’s powerful voice and vivid imagery capture the depths of life’s most challenging moments with sincerity and precision.

Kaeley Jade’s vibrant debut album, Turpentine, introduced her to the Canadian music scene as an artist to watch. Earning a Canadian Folk Music Award, a Henry Armstrong Award, and a Western Canadian Music Award nomination, Turpentine received international press, charted across Canadian radio (including a #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown), and was featured in film and television productions like Hockey Night in Canada (Sportsnet), Warrior Up! (APTN) and Teen Mom: The Next Chapter (MTV).

A Renaissance woman at heart, Kaeley Jade’s creative practice extends far beyond her musical prowess. After attaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Alberta in 2020, she has continued to dance between the worlds of music, theatre, film, and visual arts. Her work on Two-Headed/Half-Hearted—a prairie-gothic folk musical that premiered at Northern Light Theatre in 2022—showcased her talents as a composer, sound designer, and actor, and earned her a Music in the Arts award at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards. With over 150 performances across Canada since 2023, Jade’s deep love of storytelling and dynamic stage presence shine through whether she performs solo, duo, or with her five-piece band.
