In a recent conversation with Shane Christopher Neal, Coney Hatch bassist Andy Curran dives into the excitement surrounding the newly remastered reissue of the band’s classic debut album. Curran discusses the extensive work that went into bringing the project to life, from uncovering rare archival photos to discovering vintage live audio from the band’s very first U.S. show at Cleveland’s Agora Ballroom. He also touches on his own musical projects and gives a shout-out to rising local band Suicide Star, who recently recorded a remake of the Coney Hatch favourite “Monkey Bars.”
To celebrate the release, Coney Hatch will make their only appearance of 2025 with a special Unplugged & Acoustic show on Friday, November 14 at The Redwood Theatre in Toronto. This intimate performance marks the first time the band will present their hard-hitting material in an acoustic format, offering fans a unique chance to hear these songs with fresh nuance, raw musicianship, and a few surprises along the way. Tickets are now available, and with the anniversary edition already in fans’ hands, there’s no better time to rediscover one of Canada’s most electrifying contributions to ’80s rock.
