Press release –
Thunder Queens come out swinging on “Wait,” a blistering new single out today on Victory Pool Music that tears through three adrenaline-charged minutes of towering riffs, explosive drumming, and razor-sharp harmonies. Fast, loud, and impossibly tight, the track captures the band’s raw live energy while cementing them as one of Canada’s most exciting young rock bands.
Channeling the scrappy spirit of Canada’s East Coast indie-rock golden era, Thunder Queens, comprised of Lola Good on vocals/drums, Violet Bruneel on vocals/electric guitar, and Clara Magnan on bass, tap into the melodic heaviness of bands like Sloan and Eric’s Trip while weaving in the dynamic vocal interplay and noise-pop intensity of Pixies and My Bloody Valentine.
Throughout “Wait,” vocal duties shift seamlessly between Bruneel and Good, creating a restless push-and-pull that keeps the song in constant motion. Thick, chewy guitar riffs collide with soaring melodies before a blistering lead guitar cuts through the chaos. By the time the band crashes into the final refrain, the song is over almost as quickly as it began, leaving behind the urge to hit repeat immediately.

Lola Good shares, “‘Wait’ is about needing a minute before you make a decision or a path for the future as young people. Things you can’t take back, that might change your life. It’s about that moment when it feels like everyone wants you to just decide but you’re still trying to process things and figure out what’s actually the right choice for you. We think ‘Wait’ is a good reminder that pausing can be strong too.”
The band recorded “Wait” with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Schiffman (PUP, Charli xcx, Olivia Rodrigo), aiming to bottle the raw electricity of Thunder Queens’ live show. The result is immediate and visceral. Every instrument feels locked together at breakneck speed while the vocals bleed directly into the track’s wall of sound, creating something chaotic, cathartic, and impossible to ignore.
Catch Thunder Queens live this summer at Ottawa Bluesfest and Paris Drinks Fest. More new music and tour dates to coming soon!
What’s The Story about Thunder Queens?
Thunder Queens are a London, Ontario teen rock trio formed in 2019. Riff-forward and loud, their songs blend big guitar hooks, heavy bass lines, and soaring multi-part harmonies, led by an unmistakable drummer-singer. Childhood friends Violet, Lola, and Clara play with sheer velocity and real control, with a tight live set that comes from seven plus years together at only age seventeen.
Their debut album Strike One (2024) captured that balance of force and melody, with 2025 singles “Teenage Years” and “Birds on a Wire” pushing their writing further.
They’ve shared stages with The Beaches, Billy Talent, Frank Turner, The Dirty Nil, Death Valley Girls, and have appeared at festivals including POP Montreal, Sled Island, SuperCrawl, Pouzza Fest, Up Here Festival, and Riverfest Elora.
