Black Rose Rebellion’s debut album, Hail the Rebel Queen, is an album born from life’s misfortune and tribulations. Following a successful run of live shows, BRR began refining their songs in the studio where their modern hard-rock sound came to life. Influenced by decades of rock-and-roll, BRR culminated their own place in the rock sphere. The album was released at the end of May by Pavement Entertainment.
A journey through places of raw grit and delicate melodies, this album speaks honestly–fluent in emotion, story-telling, and even a little humor. This album is a place where vocals and instruments sing together in perfect harmony, invoking the kind of sentiments that only passionate music can. Poignant yet empowering, this album creates an atmosphere where emotional immersion is inevitable.
“I really wanted to explore what liberation would sound like,” says vocalist Brianna Felice on the title track, “Hail the Rebel Queen.” “I found this very sturdy place deep down, beneath the jumbled swirl of life experiences, where I could yell at the top of my lungs about self-acceptance, good or bad because it is what makes us who we are; that it’s ok to fight against those who oppress individuality. This song has taken a life of it’s own–it’s for the people. It opens with a super catchy riff that inspired the motive behind it. I can’t wait for the world to hear it and make it their anthem too!”
The lead track, “Hail the Rebel Queen” puts forthright the album’s main theme, however other tracks like “Affliction” and “Walk Along the Grave” demonstrate the band’s sensitive rock-ballad abilities. Although sprinkled with sad themes, this is not a sad album–it is a high energy, empowering one. This album screams personal freedom, growth, acceptance, and “new-fashioned” rebellion!
