AURORA: What Happened To The Earth? ALT-POP STAR’S BIGGEST-EVER HEADLINE CONCERT FILMED IN MEXICO CITY

Press release –

Trafalgar Releasing, Mercury Studios, and Fontana are delighted to announce the theatrical release of AURORA: What Happened To The Earth?. This unmissable debut concert film captures a milestone moment in the career of Norwegian alt-pop sensation AURORA: her largest-ever headlining show, a sold-out performance for 18,000 people at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes. Screenings begin in cinemas worldwide on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Tickets for AURORA: What Happened To The Earth? go on sale beginning Thursday, January 22 at 6:00 AM PST / 9:00 AM EST / 2:00 PM GMT at auroraincinemas.com.
AURORA shared her excitement regarding the film, stating, “In 2024 I did my largest solo show of my whole career in Mexico. It was a dream come true, especially since a large crowd like that could also be so quiet. And so still. It felt intimate even though the faces of the crowd stretched so far around the whole arena.
All those people, gathered around the stage, just because they love music.
We knew it was going to be special, so we decided to make a film of it. With all of us, and all of you.
And I hope you like it.”
“We are pleased to partner again with Mercury to bring AURORA’s debut feature film to cinemas around the globe,” said Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing. “This exceptional 4K remaster takes an amazing concert and brings it to another level. Audiences will be mesmerized worldwide.”
Tom Lewis, President of Fontana, said, “AURORA is a truly global artist and we have backed that belief from the very start. This is an exhilarating, euphoric and beautiful concert and to bring it to cinemas worldwide feels like another landmark moment for AURORA; a clear reflection of her extraordinary international fanbase and a reminder of the rare, borderless power of her message.”
Will White, SVP Content Sales, and Amy Freshwater, VP Content Acquisition said, “Mercury Studios is incredibly proud to be uniting with Fontana on this fantastic release, and it’s great to be partnering with Trafalgar Releasing to bring AURORA to the big screen for audiences worldwide. The creativity, the energy, the excitement – such a great way to experience a spectacular show.”
Known for blending electronic pop with folk and vivid storytelling, AURORA’s ethereal voice is ever-captivating. Filmed on Día de los Muertos (Day of The Dead), the arena was transformed into a space of spellbinding sound and light, filled with fans in festive dress, connecting the performance with a celebration of nature and the human experience.
Directed by Gonzalo Lopez and remastered in stunning 4K resolution, the concert film features haunting ballads including “Dreams” and “Exist for Love,” as well as fan favorites “Runaway,” “The Seed,” and “Churchyard.” Beyond the spectacular concert footage, it features exclusive interviews with fans, showcasing the significant and active community built around her music, known as the “Warriors and Weirdos.”
