Dangerous Toys are giving fans another chance to get their hands on The Definitive Edition of their RIAA Gold-certified 1989 debut album after the initial vinyl and cassette releases sold out in just 72 hours.
The Austin, Texas hard rock veterans, together with Kenyon Records, have announced a new collection of limited-edition vinyl pressings, signed collectibles, exclusive merchandise and a second pressing of the expanded 2xCD edition, all arriving in December 2026.
The overwhelming response followed the September 22 announcement of Dangerous Toys: The Definitive Edition. The original Picture Disc LP and double cassette sold out in less than 24 hours, while all four double-LP colour variants were gone within three days.
“We had no idea what to expect with The Definitive Edition of our first record. The fans have been rabid! The first pressing damn near sold out in just a few days. With the second pressings we tried to make them a little different from the first with the gatefold layout and poster. I think the fans will dig it with all the different options for colors. I think fans are gonna be pretty excited when we do it all over again next year with Hellacious Acres. That record never even came out on vinyl in the United States!” said frontman Jason McMaster.
The new releases include signed exclusives through TalkShopLive, a limited Double Picture Disc available directly from Kenyon Records, four new hand-numbered vinyl variants distributed through Select-O-Hits and an updated double-CD edition.

The deluxe package includes a gatefold jacket with a hot-foil red-stamped logo, a 16-page large-format booklet featuring previously unseen photographs from 1989, and a new 24-by-36-inch poster showcasing the original album artwork and band photography.
Original producer Max Norman returned to remaster the recordings specifically for vinyl.
The package also includes liner notes from former RIP Magazine editor Katherine Turman, documenting the making of the album, along with McMaster’s recollections of the live recordings.
The Double Picture Disc will be available exclusively through the Kenyon Records webstore beginning December 18, 2026.

Revisiting Dangerous Toys’ 1989 Debut
Originally released on May 9, 1989, Dangerous Toys introduced the Austin rockers to a worldwide audience and helped establish them as one of the memorable hard rock acts of the late 1980s.
Produced by Max Norman at the legendary Sound City Studios, the album featured the singles “Teas’n, Pleas’n” and “Scared,” both of which received exposure on MTV’s Headbangers Ball.
“Teas’n, Pleas’n” also reached No. 1 on MTV’s Dial MTV, knocking Bon Jovi from the top position.
The album peaked at No. 65 on the Billboard 200 and eventually earned RIAA Gold certification.
Other fan favourites include “Sport’n a Woody,” “Outlaw,” “Queen of the Nile” and “Take Me Drunk.”
The album’s unforgettable cover artwork, featuring the sinister jack-in-the-box clown Bill Z. Bub, was created by artist Tommy Pons and remains closely associated with the band’s identity.
For The Definitive Edition, Norman returned in 2026 to remaster the original recordings, preparing separate masters for vinyl and CD.
The bonus Live in ’89 material comes from McMaster’s personal collection of original soundboard cassettes. The recordings had never been duplicated or heard outside the band before being prepared for this release.
