Swedish metal giants Meshuggah are celebrating four decades of pushing musical boundaries with the announcement of The Forty-Year Anomaly North American Tour, an extensive 2027 trek featuring special guests Testament and Blood Incantation.

The tour will see the influential metal pioneers deliver a career-spanning setlist celebrating 40 years of groundbreaking music, complex rhythms and crushing heaviness that have helped redefine modern metal.

The North American run kicks off February 12, 2027, at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, followed by a February 13 performance at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. The tour will return to Canada on April 15 for a show at Vancouver’s PNE Forum.

Other major stops include Detroit, Chicago, Brooklyn, Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles and Houston, along with a milestone performance at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on April 21, marking the band’s debut at the legendary outdoor venue.

Four Decades of Redefining Heavy Music

Few bands have had the lasting impact on modern metal that Meshuggah has achieved.

Formed in Umeå, Sweden, in the late 1980s, Meshuggah developed a sound that challenged traditional metal conventions, combining unconventional rhythmic patterns, intricate guitar arrangements, dissonant melodies and relentless intensity.

Their innovative approach to songwriting and musicianship helped influence countless bands across progressive metal, technical metal and the genre often referred to as djent.

Throughout their career, Meshuggah have remained committed to experimentation, creating music that is as technically demanding as it is physically powerful.

Landmark albums such as Destroy Erase Improve (1995), Chaosphere (1998) and Nothing (2002) established the band as one of the most forward-thinking acts in heavy music.

Songs including “Future Breed Machine,” “Rational Gaze” and “Bleed” have become essential listening for metal fans and aspiring musicians alike, demonstrating the band’s extraordinary ability to blend precision, aggression and unconventional musical structures.

Meshuggah’s continued influence earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2018 for “Clockworks,” further recognizing their contributions to the evolution of heavy music.

Their most recent studio album, Immutable, released in 2022, reinforced their reputation as one of metal’s most uncompromising bands. The album topped the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart and Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

Testament and Blood Incantation Join the Celebration

Adding even more firepower to the anniversary tour are two formidable names in heavy music.

Bay Area thrash metal veterans Testament bring decades of aggressive riffs, powerful vocals and classic metal anthems to the lineup. Known for albums such as The Legacy, The New Order and Practice What You Preach, Testament remain one of the most respected bands in thrash metal.

Joining them are Colorado’s Blood Incantation, whose atmospheric and progressive approach to death metal has earned the band a devoted following. Their combination of extreme metal, experimental arrangements and science-fiction-inspired themes makes them a fitting addition to a tour celebrating musical innovation.

Together, the three bands promise an evening of uncompromising heavy music spanning multiple generations of metal.
