With the release of her fourth album, The Pages in the summer of 2025, British Columbian singer/songwriter Maddisun has made great strides within the alt-country world. Blending small-town grounding with big-star ambition, along with her warm, magnetic presence and powerhouse vocals, Maddisun has been captivating audiences both at home in Canada and abroad with performances that feel simultaneously intimate and electrifying.

She’s now poised to expand her audience further with the single release of The Pages’ title track being serviced to radio today. A breezy country-folk number, the melody and groove of “The Pages” are instantly captivating, but it all serves as the foundation for Maddisun to unleash her soulful, soaring voice and lyrically explore themes of love, resilience and personal growth.

“The song is about looking back on old chapters of life, the beauty in our messiness, and finding strength through vulnerability,” she explains. “I wrote this tune on a self-guided writing retreat in Nashville back in 2024. I didn’t think it would evolve into an entire world, but it did. It really captures the nostalgia of life, and reminds us to stay in the moment, and appreciate the journey. Musically, I took a lot of inspiration from classic ‘90s Americana artists like Sheryl Crow and Neko Case.”

The Pages was produced in collaboration with Maddisun’s partner, Julian Bueckert (Bonecrusher Collective), and captures the raw beauty of their mountain surroundings through a combination of intimate songwriting, vintage tones and analogue warmth. A deeply personal and independent project, the album as a whole reflects the power of creative partnership and staying true to your roots.

However, The Pages isn’t just an album—it’s also a love letter to physical music, a rebellion against the algorithm, and an invitation to slow down and connect. Although it’s available on streaming platforms, Maddisun made a point of releasing The Pages on top quality vinyl, hand-assembled CDs, and even limited-edition cassette tapes, aimed at old souls, collectors, and lovers of real, heartfelt songwriting.

“I wanted this release to feel special, intentional, and tactile,” Maddisun says. “Streaming is convenient, but it often flattens the experience. I want people to hold the music, to sit with it like a good book. That’s how The Pages was meant to be heard.”

A self-described Bohemian, the artist born Maddison Keiver has been building momentum since the release of The Pages, playing shows across North America, and in early 2026 completing a 13-date Irish/U.K. tour with fellow western Canadian singer/songwriter Mallory Chipman. Roots Music Canada wrote, “She’s got a larger-than-life onstage persona… a huge voice, matched by her stage presence,” while Celtic Music Radio in Glasgow said of a recent performance, “Her voice was strong and impressive and there’s a theatricality about her delivery that really communicates.”

Unapologetically heartfelt, Maddisun’s music is immersed in authenticity and wry observations of life and love, and as anyone who has already heard The Pages can attest, it’s almost impossible not to fall for her charms. Although there’s a lot of competition among young alt-country artists, Maddisun possesses all the necessary qualities to set herself apart.
