Press release –
Texas-based Americana/classic country singer-songwriter Candace Hastings has released her new single, “Loving Cowboys,” March 26, 2026. It is from her forthcoming album, Soft Place to Land, which is due out in summer 2026. Recommended if you like: Brennan Leigh, Summer Dean, Melissa Carper.
Candace comments about the song:
“I was taking swing/jazz lessons from Sophia Johnson, an Austin guitar slinger by way of Birmingham, England. She taught me all means and forms of finger and fret contortions and sent me home to learn Willie Nelson’s classic, ‘Crazy.’ When I finally learned it, Sophia told me, in her Texas-tinged British accent, ‘Oh, Candace, usually when I give people that song, they never come back for lessons.’ I’m not sure that’s a great business plan for Sophia, but I wrote ‘Loving Cowboys’ as a musical homage to Willie, and for Sophia.

About the artist
Candace Hastings is an Americana singer-songwriter, both Indigenous and cowgirl, whose small songs about big things blend rough-cut beauty, sharp observation, and a lifelong search for hope and home. Adopted, and often on the outside looking in, she learned to study the world from the edges, capturing in words what people carry. She is a bricoleur, taking life’s raw materials and shaping each song as it becomes what it needs to be: an Irish waltz, a ’90s-country remnant, an old-time swing tune. Her upcoming album, Soft Place to Land, was co-produced by Grammy-winning producer Lloyd Maines and will be released in summer 2026. She can be found swapping songs and singing stories throughout the Texas Hill Country and beyond.
