Skip Waiters unveils the first preview of his upcoming EP with the release of his new single “chanGES,” available now via ADA Canada.
Produced by Juno-award winning powerhouses Genesis and Lord Quest, the single fuses smooth, R&B-inspired melodies with heartfelt lyrics, reflecting the excitement of new beginnings and the emotional changes that come with falling in love. The track mirrors the excitement of fresh connection—moments filled with possibility, openness, and vulnerability—while exploring the balance between stability and the inevitable transformation love brings.
Speaking about the work, Skip shares, “chanGES is a piece of the album—every track represents a part of my life and introduces listeners to my story, told through my creative alter ego, Mr. Piks.” Acting as both narrator and participant, Mr. Piks leads the journey with stories of growth, renewal, and exploration through life’s ever-changing seasons.
About Skip Waiters
Hailing from Toronto and growing up in Brampton’s suburbs, Skip Waiters channels his inner-city upbringing into his music. He combines the dynamic flows of Kendrick Lamar, J.I.D, and Anderson Paak, merges the innovative production of Tyler the Creator, and embraces Pharrell’s genre-blending style. In 2021, Skip’s debut mixtape, “Personal Stereo”, earned prominent playlist spots across all major streaming platforms. It received acclaim from heavyweights like: Live Nation, Rolling Stones, Variance Magazine, and Hello Canada. The subsequent year, he unveiled two EPs addressing mental health, ego, and the experience of growing up black in Canada.
Now with over 2M catalogue streams, 2023 saw Skip introducing “Streams of Consciousness”, his first commercial album. This body of work weaves together his EP themes and underscores the significance of therapy for Black Canadians. In 2024 Skip Waiters released his Sophomore album The Human Experience that continues the discussion around self identity, being a black Canadian and the black experience. 2025 will see Skip Waiters continue to explore sounds within the Alternative Hip-Hop space through collaborations and live shows.
