Chest Fever and Blind Owl Records are proud to announce The 21st Century Last Waltz – Live at Massey Hall, a new live album capturing the band’s ambitious reimagining of The Band’s legendary farewell concert, recorded at Toronto’s iconic Massey Hall on November 18, 2023. The album will be released on September 18, 2026, on all streaming platforms.
Recorded on the 45th anniversary of Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed concert film The Last Waltz, the five-hour celebration brought together a remarkable cast of Canadian and American musicians spanning multiple generations. Rather than recreating the original concert note-for-note, Chest Fever approached the material through a distinctly modern lens, introducing new arrangements while honouring the collaborative spirit that made The Band’s music so enduring.
Featured performers include Canadian artists Sylvia Tyson, Colin Linden, Devin Cuddy, Skye Wallace, and The Pairs, alongside internationally renowned guests Cindy Cashdollar, Scarlet Rivera, Albert Lee, Marc Ford, Tom “Bones” Malone, Blue Lou Marini, and Bill Avis.
“There’s something very magical about this music,” says Chest Fever co-founder Dan Cervantes. “We’ve just scratched the surface. I don’t think I’ll ever be done playing The Band’s music.”
Leading up to the album release, Chest Fever will unveil a new live single and concert video every week, beginning June 26 with “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” Each release will be available on all streaming platforms, with accompanying videos premiering on YouTube, offering fans a preview of the performances captured during the historic Massey Hall event.
The release also arrives as Chest Fever prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Last Waltz with select Canadian and U.S. tour dates this fall. See below for complete tour listings.
