Edmonton singer-songwriter and visual artist Garett Gunderson embraces love, resilience, and the power of finding joy wherever life takes us on his new single and video, “Anywhere Anytime,” available now on all digital streaming platforms. The uplifting pop-rock anthem serves as the title track and lead single from his forthcoming album Anywhere Anytime, due out August 21.
Driven by a soaring chorus, warm-hearted lyricism, and an undeniable sense of optimism, “Anywhere Anytime” was born during one of the most difficult periods of Gunderson’s life. While supporting a close friend and longtime bandmate through a terminal illness, Gunderson found himself searching for light amid heartbreak.
“‘Anywhere Anytime’ is about finding love and joy no matter what circumstances life throws at you,” says Gunderson. “I began writing it while visiting a close friend who was nearing the end of his life. It was a difficult time, but music helped us stay connected and hopeful. I wanted the song to capture that feeling of choosing joy, with the big-hearted energy of an ’80s rock anthem and a modern perspective.”
Produced by Stew Kirkwood (Celeigh Cardinal, King of Foxes), the track blends classic pop-rock sensibilities with polished contemporary production, offering a preview of an album rooted in gratitude, connection, and the transformative power of love.
The accompanying music video, directed by Roberto Estrada and filmed on location in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, expands on those themes through a vibrant visual story of renewal and rediscovery. The video follows a woman as she moves from sadness toward joy through music, art, dance, and meaningful experiences throughout the city.
“I wanted the video to reflect the spirit of Puerto Vallarta, a place my parents loved deeply,” says Gunderson. “As Roberto and I developed the concept, I kept thinking about how music, creativity, and community can bring people back to themselves. My hope is that viewers feel some of that joy and sense of possibility when they watch it.”
The release arrives ahead of Gunderson’s sophomore album, Anywhere Anytime, a collection of nine original songs inspired by recovery, gratitude, and enduring love. Following a serious car accident in 2024 that temporarily sidelined his musical career, Gunderson gradually found his way back to songwriting, emerging with a renewed appreciation for life, connection, and the people closest to him.
Much of the album was inspired by his wife, Ashley, who served as both muse and first audience throughout the writing process. Says Gunderson: “I played each song for Ashley as I wrote it. Just acoustic guitar and voice. If she liked it, I got a kiss – and it made the album.”
Gunderson’s debut solo album Constellations reached #14 on CJSR’s Top Albums of 2023, while his song “Dirty Eyes” earned an Edmonton Music Award nomination in 2019. With Anytime Anywhere, he delivers an uplifting reminder that joy, connection, and love can be found wherever we are, and whenever we choose to embrace them.
