Press release –

Dream-pop artist MIINA has released her debut full-length album, Where The Light Goes. Ahead of the release, she shared the video for the final single, “Push It.”

“This track felt like the perfect final single from my debut album, as it serves as a reminder to slow down, savour the little things and let love and connection guide you,” shares MIINA. “It’s about finding beauty in the everyday, and the joy of being with someone who makes the world feel lighter.”

The vision for the “Push It” music video was both literal and metaphorical. “I’ve always had this slightly random idea that I wanted to make a music video focused on people’s hands doing interesting things—I honestly don’t know where that impulse came from,” MIINA says. “Since ‘Push It’ is a song about sensual connection, I leaned into that concept using hands as an intimate stand-in for the human body and for all the things that can be ‘pushed.’ The result, I hope, is something poetic, a little tongue-in-cheek and visually satisfying.”

MIIINA’s debut album is a journey through light and shadow, playfulness and urgency, grief and resilience. Each track invites listeners to feel deeply, think boldly, and move freely, celebrating the full spectrum of human experience—love, grief, joy, anger, and hope. Throughout Where The Light Goes, MIINA explores connection, self-discovery, and the courage to stand in one’s truth, even when the world is messy, dark, or absurd.

Where The Light Goes features production from an all-star team including Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother), Erik P.H. Nielsen (City and Colour) and Gus Van Go (The Beaches, Metric).

MIINA will hit the road on March 25, reviving her beloved vintage tour bus—a 40-foot Greyhound powered by recycled veggie oil—for a 20+ date Canadian tour. The journey will begin and end in British Columbia, with stops across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Joining MIINA as her special guest is longtime friend and acclaimed songwriter Dana Sipos.

What’s The Story about Where The Light Goes LP?

Across the album, MIINA moves fluidly between reflection, resistance, and release. “Bridge on Fire” sets the tone with a call to face life’s choices with courage, honouring the connections that matter while letting go of what holds us back. Moments of warmth and intimacy appear in songs like “Push It,” a gentle reminder to slow down and savour love, while “Live My Life on Holiday” and “Archetypal Life” take a sharper look at the cost of comfort and unchecked consumption.

Elsewhere, MIINA embraces play and self-awareness, from the rebellious joy of “Bread & Butter” to the knowing wink of “Worry.” The album also finds beauty in connection and resilience: “Celebration” draws inspiration from the harmony of bats in flight, “Every Other Time” balances hope with heaviness, and “Good Enough” stands tall as a song of reclamation. Closing with the dreamy, nature-soaked “I’ve Never Been Right,” MIINA reminds us that life’s lessons, and its deepest emotions, often arrive when we simply follow the path ahead.

What’s The Story About MIINA?
(pronounced MEE-NAH/all capitals)

MIINA’s sound is more than music; it’s a movement toward connection, care for the planet and a more open-hearted world. Having begun her musical career as the frontperson of Victoria’s Carmanah, Dream-pop artist MIINA continues her solo journey with the release of her debut full-length album, Where The Light Goes.

MIINA began her solo journey in August 2023 with the release of her debut EP, Slow Motion, an impeccable, multi-layered collection produced by Gus Van Go. The EP spotlighted singles “Hiccup,” featuring and co-written by acclaimed songwriter Lowell, and “Pressure,” both of which received extensive radio play across Canada, including ZONE Victoria, CBC Music, SiriusXM’s The Verge, X92.9 Calgary, X100.7 Red Deer, SONiC Vancouver and CHME Les Escoumins. Multiple sync placements followed, including CBC’s Allegiance and Être un Hilton.

Her career has also seen her grace the stages of some of Canada’s most beloved festivals, including Rifflandia, Kaslo Jazz Festival and Laketown Shakedown. Rifflandia Magazine writer Michael Luis captured the essence of her sound, writing, “MIINA is the sound of the sunlight cutting through the foliage. Everything is brighter, funkier, more danceable, but with love for the environment and human emotion.”

In addition, MIINA has opened for celebrated artists such as k.d. lang, Shakey Graves, Sam Roberts, Bedouin Soundclash and Moontricks. A captivating live performer, whether it be solo or with an accompanying band, she consistently holds her own alongside some of the industry’s most respected names. Her music builds community, with each performance a gathering of hearts, rooted in authenticity, compassion and shared human experience.
