Bordercrash hits Artpark this Saturday, July 13, featuring Headstones, Lowest of the Low, The Trews and Steven Page

Fans of Canadian music are in for a treat this Saturday night, July 13, as some of Canada’s best known musicians invade  Artpark for Bordercrash featuring Headstones, Lowest of the Low, The Trews and Steven Page.

Headstones is a Canadian punk-influenced rock band that began in 1987 in Kingston, Ontario and released their first album, Picture of Health in 1993. They were active until 2003, subsequently reforming in 2011. Over the years Headstones have released 10 studio albums including the latest Little Army (2017). Singles include When Something Stands for Nothing, It’s All Over, Tweeter and the Monkey Man, Cemetery, Three Angels, Unsound, Cubically Contained, Smile and Wave, Settle and Longwaytoneverland.

The current line-up features original members Hugh Dillon (vocals), Tim White (bass) and Trent Carr (guitars) along with Steve Carr, Rickferd Van Dyk and Jesse Labovitz.

Lowest of the Low, one of the most influential bands on the Canadian alternative music scene, formed in Toronto in 1991 garnering widespread critical acclaim and radio play. Their debut album, Shakespeare My Butt (1991), was named one of the 10 greatest albums in Canadian music history. Singles include Salesmen, Cheats and Liars, Rosy and Grey, Bleed A Little While Tonight and Eternal Fatalist.

Lowest of the Low, who was inducted into the Canadian Indie Music Hall of Fame in 2008, has six studio albums, including the latest Agitpop (2019). The current line-up consists of Ron Hawkins (vocals, guitar), Lawrence Nichols (keyboards, harmonica, vocals), David Alexander (drums), Greg Smith (bass) and Michael McKenzie (guitar).

The Trews is a Canadian rock band originating from Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1997. In 2002 they won the annual 97.7 HTZ-FM Rocksearch contest (out of St. Catharines, Ontario) which resulted in a record deal. The band has since released a number of albums and singles, including six studios albums (the latest being 2018’s Civilianaires). Singles include Every Inambition, Not Ready To Go, She’s So Leaving, Poor Ol’ Broken Hearted Me, Highway of Heroes and many more!

The current line-up includes vocalist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, and drummer Chris Gormley.

Singer/songwriter Steven Page is best known as one of the founding members of Barenaked Ladies formed in Scarborough, Ontario in 1988. Page was lead singer, guitarist and a primary songwriter in the band until 2009 when he left the band to concentrate on his solo career. On March 25, 2018, Page performed with Barenaked Ladies for the first time in nine years at the Juno Awards in Vancouver, in celebration of the band’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

As a solo artist Page has six releases including Discipline: Heal Thyself, Pt. II (2018).
