Next Tuesday’s concert at Artpark will mark the return of Canadian music icon Burton Cummings who last graced the outdoor mainstage on August 30, 2016. The concert will be a perfect fit as it follows Canada Day.

Cummings’ show will include music that spans from a career of over 50 years both as the frontman for The Guess Who and as a solo artist. Cummings joined The Guess Who in 1965 before going solo 10 years later. The Guess Who, which also included Randy Bachman (who played Artpark two years ago), had many hits including Share the Land, Hand Me Down World, Albert Flasher, Rain Dance, Sour Suite, Glamour Boy, Star Baby, Clap for the Wolfman, These Eyes, American Woman and Dancin’ Fool.

As a solo artist Cummings released 12 albums, the last being Massey Hall in 2012. Solo hits include My Own Way To Rock, Stand Tall, Break It To Them Gently, I’m Scared, Take one Away and two singles released this year – Market My Letters and A Few Good Moments.

As a musician Cummings had many achievements over the years including six Juno Awards. He is the recipient of the Order of Canada, one of the Canada’s highest civilian honours, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2016. Last year, Cummings was awarded a lifetime achievement award from SOCAN for his songwriting.

To get the night going will be comedian / impressionist André-Philippe Gagnon who specializes in impersonating the singing voices of celebrities, He is best known for duplicating We Are the World. Definitely not an act to miss!
