Marianas Trench returned to St. Catharines on March 15 to play the Meridian Centre once again on their Suspending Gravity Tour. The band previously played in the Garden City back in November of 2016. This time out Marianas Trench is on a North American tour in support of their latest album Phantoms, released earlier in the month.

Ottawa’s Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine took over the stage to get the night rolling. Woods and Fine put on a fantastic set showing the crowd the great chemistry they have on stage. Fine’s voice sounded amazing!

As the night went on it wasn’t long before Josh Ramsay et al took over starting out their night with a few new songs right off the bat – Eleonora, Only the Lonely Survive, and Echoes of You. They would later play three more new songs and the rest of the set was a mix of material from their releases dating back to 2006.

Stutter (off Ever After) continued the set followed by Pop 101, a song originally recorded and featuring hip hop artist Anami Vice. The song, written and produced by Ramsay, was released on July 29, 2014 and was originally set to be the lead off single for the forthcoming album Astoria (2015) but was later scrapped. It can be found on the Something Old, Something New EP (2015).

It was during this song and into Haven’t Had Enough, Ramsay walked through the crowd at the Meridian Centre. The band would go on to play 19 songs in all for the night with a three-song encore including a solo by Ramsay performing One Love followed by Who Do You Love and a new tune called The Killing Kind.

All in all, a great night with a band who show no signs of slowing down.
