Paragon Cause to entertain and educate with Facebook live stream event on Saturday, March 28

Paragon Cause is an Ottawa-based alt-rock/electronic duo, with a penchant for making music that is enigmatic, darkly mysterious, but also wondrously compelling.

Under normal circumstances, the members of Paragon Cause like to keep their personal lives private. But in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, they have decided to share some personal experience and expertise to both educate and entertain. When they are not making music, the duo works professionally as a Doctor and a Teacher.

Comprised of guitarist/songwriter Jay Bonaparte and vocalist/keyboardist/songwriter Michelle Opthof, the duo is set to release their full-length debut album What We Started on April 17, 2020. The album was produced by one of their musical heroes, Sune Rose Wagner of Danish pop/alternative sensations, The Raveonettes. The first single/video from the album, Lost Cause, was released on March 20.

As a way of giving back, Paragon Cause will utilize all their talents to help entertain and educate with a live stream event on Saturday, March 28 at 8 pm EST at https://www.facebook.com/ParagonCause/

The event will include performances of songs from their upcoming album What We Started and their previous release Lies Between Us, as well as chat intermissions where Dr. Jay Bonaparte will answer questions and have an honest and evidence-based discussion on the current situation with the virus. It’s a place to ask questions, share experiences, fears and to chat all while enjoying some music.

Jay works on the front lines of the healthcare crisis as an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon (ENT). Right now, ENT is one of the highest risk medical professions for Covid Infections. Reports from Iran, Italy, and China demonstrate ENT has one of the highest infection and death rates out of all medical specialties. Thus, he has a unique perspective and vested interest to promote accurate information about the virus. Jay recently wrote an editorial for the Ottawa Citizen discussing the Covid-19 outbreak and is happy to continue this discussion online.

“The amount of misinformation out there, especially on social media, is astounding,” says Jay. We hope to dispel some of these falsehoods while offering sound advice on how to keep you and your family safe, or at the very least, point you in the right direction. Music is how I escape the stress of daily life and I hope that both my knowledge and music may help others in these crazy and uncertain times.”
