In support of a new album and single, Sugar Ray is coming to Artpark on July 9 for Tuesdays In the Park and they will bring along Better Than Ezra and Emerson Hart of Tonic.

Sugar Ray formed in 1986 and released their first album Lemonade and Brownies in 1995. They achieved mainstream popularity in 1997 with their single, Fly off the album Floored. The song’s success led the band to shift its style dramatically to the more radio-friendly pop sound with their subsequent releases. Their best-selling album, 14:59, was released in 1999, and featured popular singles Every Morning, Someday, followed by a self-titled album in 2001 featuring the single When It’s Over. The band also released In the Pursuit of Leisure (2003),  Music for Cougars (2009) and their most recent, Little Yachty, in June 2019 with the lead single Make it Easy released the same month.

The current line-up includes singer Mark McGrath, guitarist Rodney Sheppard, bassist Kristian Attard and drummer Dean Butterworth.

Better Than Ezra is returning to Artpark one day short of one year exactly since they last played the outdoor amphitheater opening for Barenaked Ladies on the Last Summer On Earth tour.

Better Than Ezra is an American alternative rock band based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and signed to The End Records. They formed in 1988 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The current band consists of Kevin Griffin
(vocals and guitar), Tom Drummond (bass guitar), Michael Jerome (drums) and James Arthur Payne Jr. (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals).

Better Than Ezra has released eight studio albums, the most recent one being 2014’s All Together Now. They are best known for their 1993 platinum album Deluxe and the 1995 single Good, which reached #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The song also charted at #3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and reached #30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rounding out the triple bill is Emerson Hart, lead singer and songwriter of the alternative rock band Tonic. With Tonic, Hart released five studio albums – Lemon Parade (1996), Sugar (1999), Head on Straight (2002), Tonic (2010) and Lemon Parade Revisited (2016). As a solo artist Hart has released Cigarettes and Gasoline (2007) and Beauty in Disrepair (2014).

Tonic‘s hit singles include Open Up Your Eyes and If You Could Only See.
