Third Eye Blind And Jimmy Eat World bring the Summer Gods Tour to Artpark July 3; Tickets Still Available

Next Wednesday Funtime presents a great triple bill at Artpark featuring Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World with special guest Ra Ra Riot. This will be the first Wednesday night show of this summer at Artpark‘s outdoor stage.

The three bands are in the midst of a U.S. tour with the Summer Gods Tour that began almost two weeks ago.

Third Eye Blind formed in San Francisco in 1993 and signed their first major-label recording contract with Elektra Records in 1996, which was later reported as the largest publishing deal ever for an unsigned artist. Their first album, Third Eye Blind, was released in 1997 and spawned five singles: Semi-Charmed Life, Graduate, How’s It Going to Be, Losing a Whole Year, and Jumper.

Over the years there had been member changes and four more album releases: Blue (1999), Out of the Vein (2003), Ursa Major (2009) and Dopamine (2015).

Current members are singer Stephan Jenkins, drummer Brad Hargreaves, bassist Alex LeCavalier, guitarist Kryz Reid and keyboardist Alex Kopp.

Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993 and is composed of lead guitarist/lead vocalist Jim Adkins, drummer Zach Lind, rhythm guitarist/vocalist Tom Linton, and bassist Rick Burch. As of October 2016, Jimmy Eat World has released nine studio albums, the last eight featuring the current lineup.

The band’s commercial breakthrough came with the successful release of several singles from the album Bleed American (2001). Four singles from the album charted within the top twenty positions of the Alternative Songs chart, with The Middle reaching the number one position. Jimmy Eat World‘s follow-up album Futures (2004) featured another Alternative number one song, Pain. The RIAA certified Bleed American platinum and Futures gold, rewarding the two albums for selling over one and a half million records between them. The band’s sixth album Chase This Light (2007) became the band’s highest charting album, peaking at number five on the Billboard 200.

The band released their ninth (and last) album, Integrity Blues, in October  2016.

Opening the night will be indie rockers Ra Ra Riot out of Syracuse, New York. Formed in 2006 the band features vocalist Wes Miles, bassist Mathieu Santos, guitarist Milo Bonacci, violinist Rebecca Zeller and drummer Kenny Bernard.
