About Ashlee: It has oft been said that “music” is a “refuge” and some of the most memorable albums in history were born out of darker times. But in the act of writing the musician not only achieves catharsis but further creates art to which others can relate and in turn heal.

And so, it was the separation from longtime husband and musical partner that inspired Niagara musician Ashlee Standish to emerge from her behind-the-scenes residency into the spotlight with her debut EP release, “Alchemy”.

Given Standish ‘s life and artistic transformation, the EP’s title is all too fitting and Niagara music fans can surely expect to experience “magic” at her upcoming release party on Sunday May 27th at The Warehouse in St Catharines.

Well-known in the Niagara region for her efforts as Stage Manager for events including Livestock, Carmel Fine Arts and Music Festival, as well as the Niagara Music Awards not to mention as a previous member of other Niagara music projects, Standish’s “Alchemy” marks the first time audiences will get to experience her full range of musicianship as a vocalist, strings and piano player.

Merging classical with elements of pop, “Alchemy” was recorded at The Wow! sound Pop Studio in St Catharines by Joe Lapinski and features contributions by well-known Niagara players including Philip Bosley (Eli and the Strawman), Danielle Marconi (Zusters) as well as Ashlee’s younger sister Katie Davis.

Local singer / songwriter Zach Tiessen and alt rock trio Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold will be sparking the fire for Standish’s crowd on May 27th. Doors open at 7:30 pm, admission is $10 and the event is all ages.
